So your thinking about helping others to become Instructors..?
Similar to the partnership between Assistant Instructors and Instructors, IDC Staff Instructors work with Course Directors as important team members in the Instructor Development and training process. As a Staff Instructor you may assist instructor development programs and instructor-level continuing education programs. You can also teach the PADI Assistant Instructor Course a responsibility only you and a PADI Course Director share. You will learn to use the products I have developed to teach the Assistant Instructor Course with total confidence. Over 3 days, you will understand more about the psychology of teaching and how to apply accelerated learning techniques.
Course Options how long will it take..?
The course can be conducted in two ways - either by completing a short prep session and then auditing an entire IDC (9-10 Days) or by completing a dedicated IDC Staff Instructor course (3 Days). If auditing an entire IDC I will start the prep work two full-days prior to the (IDC), then you'll take part in a complete IDC program. The dedicated IDC Staff Instructor Course is more time efficient and takes approximately three days and consists of listening to and giving lots of presentations (you'll deliver the entire set of AI presentations), earning some suitably high scores on a skill circuit and a confined water and knowledge development presentation. You'll also grade some video presentations using the evaluation criteria and come in acceptably close to the control score.
What will the course do for me..?
Becoming a Staff Instructor is one step closer to becoming a Course Director yourself. After certification its important to act as Staff on future IDC's each one you assist with your skills will get better and better even as a Course Director every time I conduct an Instructor Course new ideas come up and ways we can all benefit form them. Even if your taking this Course just to drastically improve your own teaching techniques it will be money well spent. In addition to all the courses you can teach as a PADI Instructor, you can also: Teach PADI Assistant Instructor courses. Assist PADI Course Directors in conducting the PADI Instructor Development Course. Assist PADI Course Directors in conducting Instructor-level continuing education.
Can I become a Staff Instructor for you and help with your future IDC's..?
Yes and I will not charge you for assisting, believe it or not in some centres they will charge. Also as you are gaining experience, whilst assisting me I will give you the opportunity to join the career development sessions free of charge. This will give you the required seminars towards your Master Instructor rating and much more... (see Career Development Section here)
How often do your IDC Staff Courses run..?
You need to be a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer to start and the courses run two days before the start of every Instructor Development Course I am conducting. You must contact me if you would like to do the 3 Day option as these courses run more frequently than the IDC's.
